In honour of his current unbelievable hot streak, exactly one year ago today one Joseph Howarth Ingles — aka Down Under Durant, aka Jingling Joe, aka Slow Mo Joe, aka Dr Joseph J Ingles: ThreeBallologist — had his BEST game of the season for the Utah Jazz!
Never mind the fact that he looks like a dodgy Glenelg tradie caught by ‘A Current Affair’ down by the pub at 4pm on a Thursday, in a huge win over the Portland Trail Blazers, Jingling Joe Ingles was busy filling up the stat sheet more than bloody Billy Brownless at a Smorgy’s All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Special!
Further cementing his reputation as the best thing to come out of Adelaide since they finished the M1 to Melbourne, Down Under Durant went to work on the Blazers like Mark Ricciuto on a side of prosciutto.
While the Blazers tried to figure out if Jingler was an accountant who’d wandered onto the court, in 31 mins Slow Mo Joe put up 18 points on an absolutely bloody bonkers 7-of-9 shooting, including going bloody well 4-of-6 from downtown! That’s 77.8% from the field! No wonder folks call the coward Kevin Durant ‘American Joe Ingles’.
Nor was Slow Mo Joe content with just shooting like he was bloody Michael Diamond at Sydney 2000! The Jingler also added 4 boards plucked as easily from the sky as you’d pick a ripe grape for a nice full-bodied Barossa Valley pinot, and swung 3 dimes to teammates more gracefully than Greg Chappell caressing an on-drive past mid-wicket to the Adelaide Oval Members Stand fence.
Jingling Joe also brought more defense than James Hird’s legal team, swiping 4 steals so perfectly that he’s up for the main lead in another remake of ‘The Italian Job’ — called ‘The Aldinga Job’ — and delivered a block so brutal it sent poor bloody Jake Layman back to the G-League. And sure, the big Croweater also had 2 turnovers and 1 foul, but remember, stats are for nerds.
With the Jingling One currently muy caliente and leading the Jazz on an 11-game win streak, hoist ‘em up for Down Under Durant’s best bloody game for the ENTIRE ’16-’17 NBA SEASON!
