#NBA #Straya Never Forget!

It might seem like yesterday, but it’s now been two long years since Cam ‘Air’ Bairstow gracefully tied back the flowing flaxen locks that would’ve made him the best looking sheila in Adelaide, pulled on his No. 41 Chicago Bulls jersey, and played his BEST ever NBA game… which, in a brutal twist of fate, also happened to be his LAST ever NBA game.

Damn, Bulls. That’s colder than a Ballarat winter!

Anyway. In only his SECOND EVER NBA start, The Runcorn Rampager pulled ‘em on next to a knees-made-of-putty Derrick Rose and the sketchy Spaniard himself, Pau Gasol, and proceeded to lay an almighty smack down on an Orlando Magic team more hapless in the face of Airstow’s skils than the Windies facing Ooh Ahh Glenn McGrath back in ’95.

In only ten minutes, Airstow played like Charles Barkley mixed with a cheetah and scored a CAREER HIGH 8 points, shooting 4-of-5 from the field in a display that onlookers called ‘dazzling’, ‘brutally effective’, ‘the second coming of Karl Malone’ and ‘the most impressed I’ve been since I saw David Boon sink 8 pints of Boags in 8 minutes at a Hobart pub’.

Not content with setting a career high in points, the Big Banana Bender also had 2 rebounds that were so smooth that Derrick Rose later got brought up on charges for trying to have sex with them.

Airstow would’ve slayed for an even more impressive statline, such was the tasty smorgasbord of moves he laid out that night, but ever the gentleman Big Cam only played 10 minutes because he graciously didn’t want to get in the way of Fightin’ Bobby Portis, just in case Bobby spacked out and decided to rearrange his face.

Still, despite the Golden Child of Australian basketball going absolutely spare, the Magic held on for a hard-fought 13-point win… and that would be the very last time — FOR NOW — that Airstow would grace an NBA court.

The fact that he had his BEST ever NBA game in his LAST ever NBA game (for now) is more cooked than Don Bourke on the pingas.

Oh well. Now Airstow is hanging out in Brissy, rehabbing that balky knee of his that he buggered while repping Straya for the Boomers… so we hope he gets back soon and throws his beautiful hair into the ring for another shot at NBA glory.

#ONYA Cam ‘Airstow!
