#NBA #Straya Never Forget!

Get ya tins up in the air, cos it’s time to salute the Grey Mamba himself — Andrew ‘Gazey’ Gaze — because it was on this very day 24 years ago that Grey Mamba pulled on his K-Mart Signature Edition Dunlop Gazey-1s and came to the end of his second 10-day contract… and only bloody played Shaq and Penny’s Orlando Magic in his final game for the Washington Bullets… which was also the Aussie 🐐’s last NBA game for half a decade.

BUT! Gazey called time on his 7-game Washington stint like he came in: shooting like bloody Michael Diamond at Sydney 2000! In only 4 minutes the Grey Mamba chucked up 2 shots, BOTH of them long 3s from what the Bullets announcers called ‘wayyyyyyy downtown’ — but what Gazey would call ‘no bloody worries mate’.

Best part is, going 1-of-2 from 3 meant that Gazey kept up his GOAT 3-point average with the Bullets of 50%… FIFTY PERCENT FROM 3! You’re bloody dreaming if you don’t think Gazey in today’s NBA wouldn’t basically be a better, greyer version of that walking haircut Gordon Hayward!

Anyway! On this night, going up against Shaq and co. the Grey Mamba ALSO tore down a rebound that reportedly made Shaq’s jaw drop so far that he almost swallowed poor Scott Skiles.

So there you go! The Grey Mamba closed out his first stint in the NBA up against a couple of hall-of-famers and put the jokers to shame… ending up with per-36 numbers of 27 & 9! Just imagine if those morons running the Bullets had actually given him a bit of run! The damage he would’ve done would be comparable to Jason Dunstall in a pie shop!

And so ended the tale of Gazey on the Washington Bullets… and one that would pick up five years later when he led the San Antonio Spurs to a bloody ring! An NBA Straya trail blazer par excellence! Not bloody bad, Grey Mamba. Not bloody bad.

#ONYA Gazey!
